What Is Walk-In Shower Installation & Remodeling?
A walk-in shower replaces a tub or dated shower stall with a curbless or low-curb enclosure, built for easier daily access and a more open feel. It's one of the most requested upgrades we see in Afton, NY, both for a more modern look and for households planning ahead for easier long-term use of the space.
Why You Need It
Old shower pans and enclosures are common sources of hidden leaks, since failing seals send water into the subfloor long before staining is visible on the surface. A shower that's difficult to step into safely is also a real daily risk, particularly for anyone with mobility concerns.
Our Process
1. Assessment and Design
We evaluate your current shower or tub area, plumbing rough-in, and drain location to design a walk-in layout that fits correctly.
2. Demolition and Waterproofing Prep
The old enclosure comes out and we inspect the subfloor and framing before installing a properly sloped, waterproofed shower pan.
3. Tile and Enclosure Installation
Tile, glass or panel enclosure, and any built-in bench or niche are installed to the design plan.
4. Fixtures and Final Seal
Showerhead, controls, and drain are installed and tested, and all seams are sealed before a final water test.
What to Expect
Most walk-in shower conversions in Afton, NY take about a week, depending on tile complexity and whether the drain location is moving. We test the pan for proper drainage and check for leaks before considering the installation complete.
